Rick Devine is the founder of Devine Capital Partners and is an active Client Executive at the firm. Over the last 20 years Rick has built a unique name for himself in the executive recruiting industry, not only with an impressive track record of completed searches, but as a visionary and innovator in the field.

With a comprehensive understanding of the way the industry’s executive recruiting needs have evolved, Rick has developed a business model to deliver high quality “big firm” executive recruiting to companies with a volume requirement. With a track record of over 200 completed searches Rick’s portfolio reads like a who's who of business, having placed senior executives at Amazon.com, Apple Computer, Equinix, Flextronics, Global Crossing, Juniper Networks, Microsoft, SAP America, Siebel Systems, Viacom and more, and corporate America has noticed; in the summer of 2000 Rick was featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal's Marketplace section recognized for his innovative role at Internet Capital Group.

Rick's more than 20 years of experience encompasses nearly every aspect of executive recruiting. In 1984 at the age of 27 he founded the boutique executive search firm Devine and Virnig, where more than 100 management searches for venture capital backed start-up companies in Silicon Valley can be credited to his efforts including many in partnership with Accel Partners.

With an eye on winning searches from the biggest names in technology, Rick joined Heidrick & Struggles more than a decade later as a partner in the firm’s world-renowned Menlo Park office. Rick recruited many high profile executives while at Heidrick & Struggles, including Tim Cook, current CEO of Apple Computer, Bill McDermott to Siebel Systems (Bill is currently co-CEO of SAP) and Bob Annunziata, former President of AT&T Business to Global Crossing as CEO. Considered an innovator at Heidrick & Struggles, Rick established The Venture Equity Program and recruited Lucia Steinhilber, currently Chief Operating and Finance Officer at Devine Capital, to help with a global roll out. The Heidrick & Struggles Venture Equity Program was very successful and realized over $200 million in additional contribution to the firm since its inception in 1998.

In 1999 Rick accepted the challenge of building an in-house executive recruiting capability within an investment company when he joined Internet Capital Group (NASDAQ:ICGE) pre-IPO as Managing Director of Executive Recruiting. At ICG Rick built one of the largest internal executive recruiting organizations within an investment firm with a staff of 40 search professionals in the United States, Europe and Asia. Rick saw ICG emerge as one of the world’s largest investors in the business-to-business Internet market with over 70 Partner Companies and $2 billion in capital under management.

Rick attended Lehigh University on a track scholarship where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He is an avid rower and lives with his wife and two children on a ranch in Santa Cruz, California.
